I graduate (college) in a year and am going to be an art teacher. I have a small dove tattoo on my wrist and i’m worried about being hired. I know that every district differs on whether or not visible tattoos are allowed, but in general, do you think I have a good chance of being turned down because of my tattoo?

There is a very easy way to get around this. Find a thick-strapped watch or bracelet, or just wear long sleeves to all your interviews – unless they explicitly ask you about your tattoo, which I’m fairly sure they wouldn’t be allowed to do because it would be blatant discrimination, there’s no reason for you to disclose it at all.
Don’t let this worry affect you too much. I’m sure you’ll be a wonderful teacher – your tattoo won’t make any difference to that at all!

I was advised by my tattoo artist to not get my wrist tattoos wet so they can scab up and heal properly.. I start the process tomorrow (Monday Feb 1st) and still do not know what I can do to not get them wet from body wash, shampoo etc.

wear a plastic bag over your arm in the shower. Might be hard cuz u have to use ur hands to rub in soap and stuff but if u put a rubber band around the end it should stay.

I’ve heard this on of the most particularly painful spots. I want a gray/black lotus flower there. Wondering about anybody’s experiences with wrist tattoos?

I have one on and around each wrist, all over. They don’t hurt per se, they’re an odd feeling, but it’s totally bearable. If you really want a tattoo there the few minutes of uncomfort will be more than worth it.

The outline will be most uncomfortable but that is quick, then colouring in is nothing. They are generally small there too so it’s over before you know it. Take a friend or an iPod or something and just don’t think about it, then it will be done and you can go home ad enjoy looking at it

Okay, I’ve ask this question twice and I’m getting more No’s that it doesn’t hurt but still some Yes’s. So I’ll do it one more time. ….*I want to get my Sons name (Tyler) on the inside of my wrist. * I don’t have very good pain tolerance at all and I don’t like needles very much at all. So really tattoos aren’t my thing but I REALLY want to get ONLY 1 for my son. So rating 1-10 how bad does a tattoo on the inside of a wrist hurt ?

First let me say, I am covered in tattoos. I have them all over my body, and EVERYONE of them hurt. Did they hurt so bad I cried? No. Everyone has a pain threshold. Only you can truly answer the question. Tattoos on a scale of 1-10 are about a 3-4 for me. The wrist will hurt more than some areas of the body. Any time you have a low amount of fat in the area, or a convergence of ligaments or tendons it will hurt more. It does not hurt that much though. The area will go fairly numb after a few minutes under the needle anyway. It sounds like a small tat, I’d say you will be OK. Ask the artist to give you a "dry run" with no ink. Just a little touch with the needle in the location you want your tat. Just do it! I guess that is the best I can say. Just be warned, once you have one you will want more!
